Flip Flop Art

This week we will pick an artist to research and instead of a report on paper, we get to create a work of art using a flip flop and paints.  Come to class to learn more!

Comment below on who your favorite artist is and why?

Or maybe Picasso
Could it be Claude Monet

Reading

What books do you think every sixth grader should read?  Comment below about one of your favorite books and give us a brief summary of what it is about.

Ancient Rome

Our next unit of study for history will be on Ancient Rome.  Before we begin our unit, comment below on two things that you know about Ancient Rome and one thing that you would like to learn about.

After you have commented watch the video below.

Timeline

There are a lot of reasons why people create time lines.  One reason is that it helps us see how past events in our lives have lead us to the present or future events in our lives.  Often my husband and I talk about the events in our lives that lead us to meet each other.  We often wonder what would have happened if we had made different choices in our lives.  For example, what if one of us hadn't gone to BYU, would we have ever met?  We are going to be creating time lines in class next week.  Write down at least 10 significant events in your life and bring the list to class on Monday.  Also, Comment on this post and tell me briefly about the 2 most important events in your life so far.

Poetry

We have spent the past few days learning about the various poetry terms and types of poems.  We have read lots of poetry and written many poems of our own.  Please choose one of the types of poems we have talked about and write a poem about Halloween. (Don't forget to write your first name only)

ALL HALLOWS EVE

I hide behind the sofa quivering in fear
Now the witching hour is near
The curtains are drawn tight
And I’ve turned off the lights
The TV volume is way down low
I sit and cower it its feeble glow
Then comes the knock upon the door
And I curl up quivering on the floor
My heart is pounding my breath is shallow
My mouth is dry it’s hard to swallow
On all hallows eve I live in mortal dread
But not of monsters or the un-dead
The fear that turns my heart to stone
Is Trick or Treaters knowing I’m home
